About Peter’s Twinspot Finch

The Peter’s Twinspot Finch (Hypargos niveoguttatus) or Red-throated twinspot (Hypargos niveoguttatus) is a common species found in sub-saharan Africa are rather shy. These Peter's Twinspots typically show brillant shades of red on the face and chest, chestnut browns on the back, and black and white spots arranged in pairs or "twins" on their stomach, hence the name "Twinspots". Twinspots live in pairs and sometimes together with their young until adulthood. They are typical territory birds that do not tolerate birds of the same kind near them during the mating and breeding periods.
