The Lavender Waxbill (Estrilda caerulescens) is a common species of Estrildid finch. It is a tiny grey finch with red tail and rump and a purplish bill. The male bird takes a slender stem of grass, flies to perch with the stem held in its beak, and bobs up and down while singing, with the beak held up, to woo the female.
