The Eclectus Parrot (Eclectus roratus) is unusual in the parrot family for its extreme sexual dimorphism of the colours of the plumage. There are multiple subspecies of this parrot. The bird has an unusually long digestive tract and thus requires a diet rich in fibres. It nests within hollows in large emergent rainforest trees. The females are more dominant than the males.
