The Cuban Amazon (Amazona leucocephala), also known as the Rose-throated Parrot, is an intelligent and inquisitive bird. They have an excellent ability to talk and are valued as good pets, but owing to their "near threatened" conservation status, are not recommended as pets. These birds inhabit pine forests, palm groves, mangroves and broadleaf woodlands. They nest in tree cavities, except on the island of Abaco, where they nest in limestone cavities in the ground.
